Honoring Love and Sacrifice This May

A reflection on Mother's Day and Memorial Day — celebrating the love of mothers and the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for our freedom.
May gives us a beautiful chance to slow down, look around, and thank God for the people whose love has shaped our lives in lasting ways.
On Mother's Day, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, and faithful women who have poured love into their families with tender hearts and willing hands. So much of their love is seen in the little things: prayers whispered, meals prepared, tears wiped away, lessons taught, and encouragement given when it was needed most. Their care may often be quiet, but its blessings echo through generations.
Memorial Day gives us another sacred moment of gratitude, as we remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Because of their sacrifice, we enjoy freedoms that should never be taken for granted. We honor them with thankful hearts, remembering that their courage and devotion have left a lasting gift for us all.
As Christians, these special days remind us that love is more than words. Love serves. Love gives. Love sacrifices. And both Mother's Day and Memorial Day point our hearts back to Jesus Christ, who showed us the greatest love of all. May we cherish these moments not simply as dates on a calendar, but as joyful and reverent reminders to give thanks, to remember, and to honor those who have loved so deeply and given so much.
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
— John 15:13 KJV
